LISA AND FANDI

Lisa and Fandi met while they were both in Munich. Lisa took a flight from New York after spending a week at a silent meditation retreat to have some fun with her cousins just Oktoberfest. Fandi flew to Munich to visit his friend for the opening weekend of Oktoberfest and continue on to Czech Republic and Bulgaria. On opening day, they happened to sit at the same picnic table. Fandi knew he wanted to marry Lisa someday after spending the day by her side. Lisa thought he was cute and it felt like they had been friends forever, but figured she’d probably never see him again. This was “just a crazy weekend in Germany after all.”

He was from Toronto, and Lisa was from a small town in Michigan, although still a distance, thankfully for the both of them not too far apart to agree to go on a date in Detroit a couple months later. When Sunday that weekend came around, they both didn't want him to leave each other. So, they continued traveling between Toronto, Michigan and around the globe from then on. Lisa knew he'd be the one the day he asked her to be his girlfriend while they were walking in Chicago together on New Year's Day. She knew in her heart that she was saying yes to forever already with him.

Their travels together have been some of the most fun adventures yet, especially because they were usually spending more than a weekend together. They love good food, nights in and dancing in the living room while listening to music. They’re always learning and laughing together, and they always find ways to ground and balance each other.

The unexpected reality of the border closing down between Canada and the states changed both of their lives very quickly. Thankfully, Lisa visited Toronto for the weekend of Fandi’s birthday which happened to be the Friday before the borders closed, so they got to casually spend six months together. Fandi asked Lisa to marry him standing within a flower mandala he had laid out on their new living room floor. They both feel like this life is an adventure that is simply better flowing through together. They want to express their gratitude for Brenda's gift of helping them design and craft their dream engagement ring. She was absolutely lovely for both Fandi and Lisa to work with and captured everything that they envisioned and more.
